At War with the Wind: The Epic Struggle with Japan's World War II Suicide Bombers

By
David Sears

(487 pages, photos, drawings)

Reviewer:  Dr. V.H. Schumacher

Overall Rating: Four Stars: Highly recommended. An excellent book.

This excellent book is an exhaustive and detailed study of the role played by sailors and ships of the Pacific fleet and by the pilots of the Japanese Air Forces with whom they came into contact. The author presents a comprehensive picture of the too often deadly interaction between ships and aircraft, the lives of the men on both sides who participated in these conflicts and the philosophies and life styles that drove their actions.

The author has done an outstanding job of bringing a series of chronological events to life. Readers will gain a deeper understanding of the times, the events, the strategies and the lives of those who lived and died during these challenging times.
